Keep Your Parents Informed
- Whether you are still in your childhood home or have started your own family in your own home, keep your parents informed of what is going on in your life—take the initiative to share the news of your life.
- Make sure you don’t only talk with them when things are going wrong—sometimes it’s easy for Mom or Dad to be a shoulder to cry on; make sure you share highlights and fun things as well.
- As a teen, you may think that parents don’t really understand you. Give them more information and share what you are thinking. Let your Mom or Dad know about your friends, fears, questions, and difficulties. Let them know about your interests, loves, and hopes, and dreams.
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account,
that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
