Don’t Joke About Sin

  • Sin is a serious matter. It is an abomination to God and something that He does not allow in His presence. When we laugh at or joke about sin, we give the impression that we are okay with that sin. Sin is not funny and should not be treated with jest. The devil works hard to pervert the seriousness of sin. Evaluate the comedy that you enjoy. Does it make light of God’s Word?
  • Sometimes we laugh at something that we are uncomfortable with. We try to change the subject or just give a courtesy laugh. Are we laughing at something that should be confronted? When you find yourself starting to laugh at something that isn’t funny, stop yourself and say to yourself and very likely out loud, “That’s not funny!”

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart
bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Luke 6:45

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Ephesians 4:29

For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
Psalm 5:4
