Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God
Focusing on Purity
Decorations
Make your banquet entirely white: decorations and food. If possible, use round tables for seating. Assign a specific lady or Sunday school class in your church to host (decorate) one table. They can use their creativity as long as everything is white, including the tablecloth, place settings, and center piece. Part of the fun is seeing all of the different tables. Have the coordinator of the banquet be sure to place a folded stand-up card on each table that says “Thank you. This table is hosted by _______________” to acknowledge the work that they did.
Since people are donating time and talent for the tables, you could also ask a few talented ladies in your church to donate one or two craft items each to give away as prizes.
Nametags
Nametags could be wooden craft hearts painted white with a safety pin glued to the back. Write ladies’ names on the front with a gold pen.
Refreshments
Recipe for white punch:
Two 2-liter bottles of ginger ale to one quart of pineapple ice cream. Put ice cream in bowl and carefully pour the ginger ale over it. Break up the ice cream as you go along, and it will foam up with pretty white foam on top.
Other white foods:
Mozzarella cheese, cream cheese desserts, white dips on white crackers
Focusing on Cleanliness
Decorations
Decorate the center of each table with a decorated cleaning bucket or basket. Put cute material inside and let it drape over the sides. Fill up the bucket with colorful cleaning supplies. Also include a good book about the heart like A Woman After God’s Own Heart or Keep a Quiet Heart. Finish it off with lots of curly ribbon and maybe balloons. These can be given away at the end of the night for prizes.
Nametags
Cut a tiny apron shape out of material and glue it to a card with ladies’ names on them.
Games
- Collect several cleaning slogans, and have participants try to match them with the correct product. (See below)
- Collect stories of how a cleaning product came into being, and try to match it with the correct product.
Devotional
Whenever it is time to clean out those messy cabinets or closets, we all know the 3-point rule. Have 3 boxes to help you organize: Keep, Give Away, and Throw Away. Try applying this to cleaning your heart as well!
