Invest in People
- Put your effort into something that will last for eternity—it’s easy to get caught up in the stuff of this world; remember what is temporal and what is eternal, then invest in the things that will be around forever.
- Investing is not free—it will take your time, talent, and treasure. It is an intentional choice to encourage and help; it isn’t something you are required to do, but it is something that God puts in front of you as an opportunity.
- Invest in people outside of your generation—look for someone 10 to 20 years younger and older; each generation has a different set of needs and different ways to help.
- Some of the easiest people to help are those with obvious needs—don’t ignore and look over others with needs; some of the hardest people to invest in need it the most.
- List the three to five people who are closest to you and ask yourself what you are doing to help them—do you know their spiritual needs? do you know how you can encourage them? do you love the ones with whom you spend the most time?
- Investing implies that the return comes later—many times the impact of the effort we put into people will not be obvious until we are with God in eternity. It takes faith to keep investing in people. Fight the good fight of faith!
