Sarcasm

(If You’re Good at It) Will Blow Up in Your Face

  • Sarcasm works hard at making conflict seem real to the point that you begin to question whether or not the person is being funny. The subtlety that goes with sarcasm is often lost on those observing or not as close, then the effort to keep getting more sarcastic begins to question the foundation of love.
  • Constant statements of, “I was just kidding,” “Can’t you take a joke?” or, “I was being sarcastic,” are clear indicators that the person is so good at sarcasm that it hides his humor, or he is using humor as a disguise for being mean and hurtful. Either way, the danger of making sarcasm a major part of your humor repertoire is not worth the hurt it will eventually cause.

As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?
Proverbs 26:18–19

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
Proverbs 21:23
